Public Project 'Her Health for A Happy Family' Launched in Beijing

The Chinese Maternal and Child Health Association (CMCHA) co-hosted an activity to launch the Her Health for a Happy Family project at the 4th Forum of 100 Hospital Presidents in Beijing on April 1.

The event was aimed at promoting the sustainable development of the maternal and child healthcare project; better achieve the role of Party construction in development; and, further carry out the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

The gathering was held under the direction of the Department of Maternal and Child Health of the National Health Commission (NHC) with support from China Association of Reproductive Health Industry; the National Center for Women and Children's Health; the Training Center of the All-China Women's Federation; and the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF).

The Lifetime Honorary President of the CMCHA, Zhang Wenkang, who is also the former Minister of NHC, attended the opening with Qin Geng, Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health of the NHC, Chen Ziquan, President of the CMCHA and Zhang Jianmin, Deputy Secretary-General of the CWDF.

Some 400 directors and experts from maternity and child healthcare centers around China were also present.

Chen Ziquan firstly introduced the outlines of the project, and made a plan on its construction.

Zhang Wenkang added: "Those maternity and childcare centers at different levels should shoulder their responsibilities, whilst giving full play to the platform, and engage in deepening medical insurance reform as well as promoting basic medical insurance services' ability."

Qin Geng gave a detailed introduction to the project, which will involve building a platform for cooperation and communication among public institutions, social organizations, and Party organizations at grassroots levels in the maternity and childcare field through different kinds of activities.

"We should also call for co-development among those departments and material and childcare centers, with Party construction closely integrated," he added.

Zhang Jianmin affirmed the Her Health for a Happy Family program and named Professor Sun Aijun as its chief expert.

Honorary flags were also presented to some 10 hospitals including Hunan Provincial Maternity and Childcare Hospital, Shenzhen Maternity and Childcare Hospital, and Hangzhou Maternity and Childcare Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Nationwide Project on Training Relevant Talents in Maternity and Childcare field and the N Base Doctors' Tutoring Project were also launched.

A special research group was established to strengthen the determination for training talents on the project.

Outstanding groups and individuals were awarded during the implementation process of the promoting the project in light of the nationwide maternity and childcare medical technologies developed in 2017.

Later, participants discussed the new conditions and problems in the maternity and childcare field in the new era.

Representatives said they will take the meeting as a starting point, and bear in mind their original aspirations to provide better services to mothers and children, and initiate the new path for its development under the correct guidelines in the new era.
