A training session to further hone the professional competence of medical staff of Peking University People's Hospital was organized by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) with the support of Kimberly-Clark's branch in China, Peking University People's Hospital and the Beijing Obstetricians & Gynecologists Association in Beijing on March 22.

The training event was part of Kimberly-Clark & White Angel Action, which was jointly launched by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the CWDF and Kimberly-Clark (China) in 2013 and aims to support female healthcare professionals in both cities and rural areas as they advance in their work.

Participants were lectured by Zhang Li, director of Application & Development Department at the Institute of Psychology affiliated with Chinese Academy of Sciences and Sun Min, a gynecological expert from Peking University People's Hospital, about how to hold effective communications with patients and ensure a safe environment for pregnant women.

According to organizers, the charity action will hold similar training sessions at 10 domestic hospitals, assist the professional training of 200 medical staff, and distribute 60,000 medical publications amongst practitioners this year. In addition, a white paper with an emphasis on the work and lives of medical employees will be compiled later this year to raise the public's awareness of the unique conditions of their important work.

Those present at the training event's opening ceremony were President of the CWDF Huang Qingyi, Vice-President and Secretary-General of the CWDF Qin Guoying, Deputy Inspector from the Department of Maternal and Child Health in National Health and Family Planning Commission Zhang Lingli, and officials from other sponsoring organizations.
