2016 Beijing International Film Festival to Open in April

The week-long sixth Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) is going to kick off on April 16.

The Beijing Film Panorama that will begin a week earlier, is scheduled to put on around 300 outstanding films from both home and abroad at 25 cinemas and five universities.

The Beijing Film Panorama of the BJIFF also announced the first part of the film list, including six special series: "Alien" series, the 20th anniversary series of Hong Kong-based film studio Milky Way Image, the 110th anniversary series of American film master Billy Wilder and the three commemoration series of actresses Chen Yanyan from China, Marilyn Monroe and Japan's Setsuko Hara. Altogether 19 films will be screened.

All of these films are classic works from the film history. The complete list of movies that will be screened during the film festival is to be unveiled soon.

The host of the film festival cooperates with well-known art theaters including China Film Archive, MOMA Broadway Cinematheque, and Inside-Out Theater as well as high-quality cinemas like the cinemas of Wanda and MegaBox.
