More than 600 children from deep poverty-stricken counties in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality gathered on July 16 in the city's Gele Mountain Martyrs Memorial Park for the launching ceremony of a summer camp which started on July 15.
At the event, children laid a wreath and swore an oath to inherit the "Hongyan Spirit," which has the meaning of devotion, perseverance, honesty and diligence.
They also vowed to develop themselves into qualified socialist builders and successors of all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor at the oath-taking session.

The campers spent five days visiting revolutionary bases, exhibitions on patriotic education and robot exhibition center to learn the stories of martyrs, science knowledge and the achievements made by the country over the past 70 years.
Pingping, a camper, said she was glad to attend the charity summer camp, which strengthened her knowledge and broadened her horizons.
"It is my first time leaving the mountainous area and visiting downtown Chongqing, where I experience the rapid development of the city," she added.
The camp was sponsored by the Women's Federation of Chongqing Municipality and three other departments.
It is a move to echo the statement of General Secretary Xi Jinping when he called for greater efforts to win the battle against poverty at a meeting during his inspection tour in Chongqing in April.
It aimed at leading the children to develop and implement the core values of Chinese socialism and making concrete measures to care for children.
The city's women's federation hoped to help left-behind and disadvantaged children grow up healthily and happily.
