Rainbow Action Program aimed at taking care of rural left-behind children was launched on July 14 by the Women's Federation of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, in Central China's Hubei Province.

"The Rainbow Action is aimed at making up for the deficiency and insufficiency of family education for left-behind children and offering them more care. The summer vacation is usually the peak season of accidental injury and death caused by drowning, food poisoning and other factors. The volunteers in the program will be sure to plan a safe, healthy and colorful vacation for the children," said Yu Xiaoling, Director of the Legal Department of the Women's Federation of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

A total of 47 student volunteers from Hubei University, Hubei Minzu University, Wuhan University, the China University of Geoscience in Wuhan and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law as well as four staff members from a local social-work service center will take care of more than 300 left-behind children in seven villages.

The student volunteers all agreed that they would continue to contribute to the program and they hoped more people would join and support it.

The Enshi BiZiKa Social Work Service Center, one of the organizers, offered a training session of safety, education, team-building and legal matters on July 13 for the volunteers. The volunteers also learned how to communicate with left-behind children and their guardians and how to tutor them in their schoolwork.
