Qiancuihang, a company selling specialties from Southwest China's Guizhou Province, has been purchasing hand-made products from rural women in Guizhou for many years. It has established nearly 30 rural cooperative bases of crafts, benefiting more than 1,000 rural women.
"Our enterprise has benefited a lot from the Brocade Project carried out by the Women's Federation of Guizhou Province. It drives women to get rid of poverty," said Fu Guoyan, President of Qiancuihang.
The Brocade Project not only helps Guizhou ethnic and folk crafts flourish vigorously and changes the destiny of many rural women, but also provides guiding policies to folk craft enterprises like Qiancuihang in poverty alleviation and supporting and protecting folk cultural crafts by souvenirs sales.
The women's federation launched the Brocade Project in 2013, aiming to increase the income of local women. By far, it has set up 1,354 professional craft cooperatives and has trained 55,000 female embroiderers.
The province has nearly 500,000 women engaging in craft industry, generating output value of 6 billion yuan (US $873 million).
