The Jiangsu Women's Federation and Huai'an Women's Federation hosted a donation ceremony for wheelchairs and hearing aids by All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) - American LDS Charity Association in the Dongfeng community of Huai'an City in east China's Jiangsu Province on November 19, 2014.
The 250 donated wheelchairs and a similar number of hearing aids worth 1 million yuan (U.S. $0.17 million) will be presented to 500 disabled families in nine Huai'an City counties by the end of November.
Deng Hong, deputy inspector and secretary general of Jiangsu Women's Federation, said what LDS had done was not only making a donation to disabled women and children, but also bringing warmth to them. The donation also witnessed the friendship between Chinese and American people. LDS's good action had promoted the spirit of helping disabled people and others with boundless love. It would be a good start for the Jiangsu Women's Federation in carrying out their caring work for women and children.
Wang Xianghong, president of Huai'an Women's Federation, delivered her appreciation to the LDS association and other leaders who keep on caring about and supporting the work of the Huai'an Women's Federation. She also called for more people to devote themselves to care work in the future.
During the activity, LDS representatives Mr and Mrs Edward visited three families with disable members and places of interest in Huai'an.
Gu Yu, deputy director of the North American Office of the International Department of the ACWF, representatives of the LDS and other local government leaders took part in the presentation to representatives of the disabled.
