Yunnan Holds 10th Women's Conference

The 10th Yunnan Women's Conference took place on January 16, 2012 in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

In attendance was Qin Guangrong, secretary of the provincial party committee and party group secretary of the provincial people's congress' standing committee, who commended the work of provincial women's federations in the past five years. He also acknowledged their contributions in encouraging urban and rural women's development, protecting women and children's rights and interests, improving women's quality of life, promoting family and societal harmony and participating in the fight against drugs and AIDS.

Vice President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Chen Xiurong congratulated the conference on behalf of the ACWF. Chen spoke highly of the support and attention given to women and children's work by the Yunnan government.

She also encouraged women's federations and organizations at all levels in the province to participate actively in social management and innovation to provide timely and efficient services to women and children.

Awards were also given out at the conference to advanced individuals and collectives in women's work.
