The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) has thoroughly carried out various tasks in accordance with requirements made by President Xi Jinping on women's poverty alleviation and rural revitalization since 2012, and achieved significant results, according to officials.
To follow the arrangement made by the Leading Party Group and the Secretariat of the ACWF, women's federations at all levels have actively promoted women's development in urban and rural areas.
In doing so, the federations have focused on the women's poverty alleviation campaign, the action for entrepreneurship and innovation and, the rural revitalization initiative, and have achieved notable improvements in the quality of people's livelihoods.
The ACWF organized special squads to provide assistance in poverty alleviation work in Zhangxian County, Northwest China's Gansu Province.
In June, the team guided and teamed up with local women's federations to use an online platform to plan and promote local women's handmade work to encourage them to shake off poverty.
Since 2012, the leaders of the ACWF have led teams to conduct investigations in linked poverty-stricken areas for 16 times, covering 16 central and western provinces and autonomous regions.
Meanwhile, the ACWF has also annually joined efforts with the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, to carry out the analysis of registered underprivileged women.
After the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a conference on poverty relief in 2015, the Leading Party Group and the Secretariat of the ACWF thoroughly studied and implemented the important speech of President Xi and the requirements of the Party Central Committee.
They confirmed the implementation on Women's Poverty Alleviation campaign, and proposed seven key tasks, as well as releasing a directive on carrying out the campaign.
In addition, ACWF issued or jointly issued 26 documents with relevant departments including those on the work for women in poverty alleviation and development and on promoting targeted poverty alleviation via e-commerce.
They also initiated a series of specific measures to support women's poverty alleviation, and emphasized the importance of helping target women shake off poverty.
They also suggested incorporating these measures into the overall poverty alleviation and development plan of each region to realize the annual reduction of women’s share, at least 40 percent, among the total impoverished population.
Women's federations in various regions have cooperated with poverty alleviation departments to issue loans of a total 58.9 billion yuan, supported 1.07 million women to start businesses and shake off poverty, established 13,800 women's poverty alleviation bases, and, helped 3.658 million women increase their incomes through hand-knitting, rural e-commerce and other sources.
In June 2015, ACWF launched the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Action among women to encourage and guide women to enhance their entrepreneurial awareness and actively practice mass innovation and entrepreneurship.
In September 2017, ACWF and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, east China, jointly held the China Women's Entrepreneurship Innovation Competition, attracting nearly 560,000 participants, along with the corresponding China Women's Entrepreneurship Innovation Forum. The events have greatly inspired the innovative spirit and creativity of women.
Lin Yaping, from Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, graduated from college a few years ago. Now she is a well-known expert in agricultural science and technology in her township.
Under her cultivation, 14 graduates from Peking University and Nanjing Agricultural University have engaged themselves in agricultural business.
Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province has carried out special activities such as Employment Assistance Month to provide key assistance services for elderly women and those from families with no income, and female students from poor families.
According to statistics, the proportion of newly recruited women in the province has been raised to and remained at around 40 percent, and the proportion of female employees has stayed at above 40 percent.
The proportion of women receiving vocational skills training in Guangdong Province, South China, rose to 51.14 percent in 2016.
In recent years, women's federations at all levels have carried out a total of 5.52 million women's entrepreneurship innovation training and organized over 2,800 competitions.
At present, over 3,800 new types of women's startup services platforms have been established nationwide, supporting women in setting up 350,000 various agricultural cooperative organizations and family farms.
Moreover, a total of nearly 600,000 family inns have been established, and 100,000 women became leaders in e-commerce, helping over 15 million women increase their incomes, and initially formed a network service system of Internet Plus Women Entrepreneurship.
The implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, proposed at the 19th CPC National Congress, is the major decision-making arrangement of the Party Central Committee with President Xi as the core, focusing on the overall situation of the Party and the country and realizing the new expectations of hundreds of millions of farmers for a better life.
Women's federations at all levels have guided women to play their role of "holding up half of the sky" and actively guided them to contribute to national strategies.
In order to strengthen the ideological leadership, motivation and creativity of rural women in participating in rural revitalization, ACWF adhered to an initiative to improve the comprehensive capabilities of rural women.
The federation also organized homeland construction-themed activities to lead rural women share the jointly achieved results of the ecologically livable new home, which expanded the connotation of the Looking for the Most Beautiful Families campaign, and promoted rural civilization with positive family traditions.
Since 2012, the ACWF has promoted women's participation in government-organized training in nearly 200,000 sessions, training over seven million women. Women's federations at various levels have held over 160,000 various agricultural-related training courses, benefiting 12 million rural women.
A total of 858 National Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Bases were established in addition to 20,000 agricultural demonstration bases at various levels, helping over 2.6 million rural women increase their incomes.
Under the promotion of women's federations at all levels, over 300,000 family farms, family inns and various types of agricultural cooperatives were established by women across the country, directly driving over four million rural women to develop production and start businesses.
