Luohe Women's Federation (LWF), in central China's Henan Province, recently held an inauguration ceremony to mark the launch of its marriage and family service centers.
The five centers are aimed at providing a one-stop service for family dispute mediation, law popularization, family education and psychological counseling among the public.
Such services are listed by the local government as one of its main practical efforts this year to serve women and children, according to officials.
Organizers make strong use of a model in which the local government can purchase professional services from social organizations.
The project was launched in March. Since then, organizers made preparations according to the schedule which was completed in August.
With the implementation of the project, LWF was expected to provide three kinds of services for communities.
First, the service centers will provide expert knowledge, psychological counseling and family dispute mediation so as to help improve the family happiness index.
Second, parent-child camps will be organized to carry out various activities such as education lectures, group activities and individual consultations to solve problems in family education.
Third, the women's rights protection post aims to propagate legal knowledge concerning women and children's rights protection; offer free family dispute mediation; and, provide legal-aid services for women, so as to safeguard their legal rights and interests.
