Officials in northwest China's Gansu held its first anti-domestic violence joint conference on September 5 in a video conference room of the legal affairs committee of Gansu provincial Party committee.

The conference aimed to review the work on anti-domestic violence from the first half of this year and propose appropriate suggestions for later work.

The event drew the attendance of officials from the member organizations of the province's anti-domestic violence leading group.

Organizations include the provincial comprehensive management office, provincial higher people's court, public security, justice and civil affairs departments, health and family planning commission; and Gansu Women's Federation (GWF).

Li Juan, vice-president and member of the Leading Party Group of the GWF, presided over the meeting.

Sun Yanfei, deputy director of Gansu Provincial Comprehensive Management Office, gave a speech at the event.

Sun highly praised the work of all departments, analyzed the main problems existing in their anti-domestic violence work and then made specific arrangements for coordination mechanisms.

Sun also proposed four suggestions for all participants.

First, officials should pay attention to anti-domestic violence work. They should effectively combine their work with existing platforms so as to better fulfill their tasks.

Second, officials should actively popularize knowledge about fighting domestic violence among the public, create a harmonious social atmosphere, and integrate publicity into all major festivals, large activities, special groups and typical cases.

Moreover, officials from different departments should cooperate with each other to establish a linkage mechanism to further investigate and solve marriage and family disputes.

Furthermore, leaders at all levels should strengthen project supervision and speed up efforts to train more professional social organizations.

Li gave a speech at the end of the meeting.

Li hoped all organizations would make full use of their strengths and cooperate with each other to help establish a safe society and help people escape poverty.

She also hoped the leading group could ensure that the linkage mechanism will work smoothly and contribute its efforts to preventing domestic violence and promoting its work onto a new stage.
