Studies have long proved that exercise is good for physical and mental health, as well as development of the brain. Exercise Guide for Chinese Children and Adolescents, issued in Shanghai on January 30, recommended that children and adolescents should accumulate at least 60 minutes of medium-to-high-intensity physical activities daily.
As recommended, children and adolescents should limit their "screen time" to less than two hours per day. They should also avoid a sedentary lifestyle and take appropriate exercises during class breaks.
The Guide was a joint effort by National Children's Medicine Center, Children's Medicine Center affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Physical Education; and Paediatrics Hospital affiliated with Fudan University.
