This year marks the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the People's Republic of China and the CWU. The military training focused on the theme of "staying true to our founding mission," and it held various patriotic education activities.

At the closing ceremony, students sang patriotic songs including Me and My Motherland, Ode to the Motherland, and the Military Anthem of the People's Liberation Army to pay tribute to the motherland and the university.

The students passed by the rostrum in orderly formation with high morale and staged military training performances, demonstrating their development in military training.

Zhang Bing, an investigator from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, spoke highly of the university's efforts in military training and national defense education, stressing that military training is a must for each college student. He encouraged the students to use the spiritual wealth and good traditions they gained during the training to contribute to the country.

On the opening ceremony of the new semester, CWU President Liu Liqun pointed out that the CWU boasts glorious traditions and revolutionary genes, and it shoulders a unique mission. It is the only state-owned women's university affiliated with the All-China Women's Federation.

The CWU was founded by the older generation of proletarian women revolutionaries and grew with the development of the People's Republic of China; since its establishment 70 years ago, a group of excellent women cadres and professionals have emerged from the CWU, Liu said, adding that they are working hard for the cause of the Party and the country in their fields, and contribute to the country.

Liu suggested the freshmen to keep their mission in mind and be loyal to their ideals, combine knowledge with practice, build a global vision, and bear in mind the school motto and inherit culture.

She also encouraged them to develop themselves in social practice and become a new generation brave enough to undertake the great task of national rejuvenation.
