The Party Committee of the China Women's University (CWU) calls on teachers at the CWU to integrate ideological and political education with course teaching.

To set an example for teachers at the university, Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, demonstrated how to bring ideological and political education in course teaching by giving a class with a brief introduction to legal professional ethics and legal methods for more than 60 students at the School of Law on September 6.

Teachers of the School of Law and the Department of Ideological and Political Theory attended the class.

Duinrg the 90-minute lecture, Li first raised the question "which is more important for people of the legal profession, the legal professional ethics or legal methods?"

Focused on strengthening moral education and cultivating people, Li elaborated the concepts, including the legal professional ethics, the important role of ethnics in legal professions, professional ethics, conflicts between legal professional ethics and personal ethics, and the legal professional ethics and rule of law thinking.

The lecture showed the knowledge and concept of the professional quality of legal people, the ethical requirements of law and thought of the rule of law.

The lecture talked about the connotation of legal professional ethics and its importance to legal professionals, said Liu Chunling, Associate Professor of the School of Law. The explanation was vivid, easy to understand, and inspiring.

It aroused students' interests in the course of legal professional ethics and legal methods, and made preparations and guidance for the follow-up teaching of this course, Li added.

Wang Huan, Associate Professor and director of the teaching and research office of morals and ethnics cultivation and legal foundation under the Department of Ideological and Political Theory, said the class inspired her in two ways.

She held that in the new era, university and college courses and ideological and political education shared the same purpose, which was to strengthen moral education and cultivate people. Even the highly professional courses were proven to boast rich ideological and political education resources.

In addition, teachers must have a very deep theoretical foundation to teach students and be exhaustive on the subject, she noted.

Miao Weidong, Secretary of the Party branch of the Department of Ideological and Political Theory, said the class took moral education and personal cultivation as its line and explained the professional ethics that a good legal person should have.

This class was not only a legal professional class, but also an ideological and moral education class, which was a successful attempt to reform the curriculum of the ideological and political education, Miao added.

Young teachers at the Department of Ideological and Political Theory said the lecture inspired students to think deeply about the intrinsic connection between law, profession and ethics. More importantly, it connected personal cultivation with legal professional ethics so that students could have a better understanding of morality.

Bringing ideological and political education into course teaching is an innovation of the practice of undergraduate talent training reform, and it also answers the call of high-quality and high-level talent training.

In addition, it supplements the ideological and political education, and can even works as a new model of ideological and political education in colleges and universities.

For the university, the integration of ideological and political education in course teaching needs the synergy between professional teachers and ideological and political teachers. So, the characteristic integration of the course and the ideological and political education mechanisms can be established in an effective way.
