The graduation ceremony of the 2019 International Program of Master of Social Work in Women's Leadership and Social Development, one of the degree education programs sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, was held on July 3 at China Women's University (CWU) in Beijing.

Elia G. Kaiyamo, Namibian Ambassador to China, and 26 international graduates and their relatives and friends from 17 developing countries were invited to the ceremony.

Lu Yamin, Deputy Director-General of the Liaison Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and Wang Jingxia, Vice-President of the CWU, also attended the event.

Elizabeth, a student from Cameroon, spoke as a representative of the graduates, saying that she would use the knowledge she has learned in China for the benefit of family, community, her country and the world.

She thanked President Xi Jinping and the Chinese Government for sponsoring scholars from developing countries to study or conduct research in China's universities. She also expressed appreciation to the ACWF for its support of their study and lives in China.

Wang Jingxia congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of the program. She hoped they would apply what they have learned to better serve economic and social development in their countries.

Lu said China attached great importance to multilateral cooperation in women's cause, actively implemented the measures President Xi Jinping proposed at the Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment, and kept deepening exchanges and cooperation in the field of women's affairs with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Lu hoped the graduates would make full use of the knowledge and confidence they have gained during the two-year study, and take positive actions to promote gender equality and women's empowerment in their own countries. She encouraged the graduates to become practitioners and contributors to advancing the development of the women's cause.
