A 21-person delegation from China Women's University (CWU) attended a themed training event in former revolutionary sites in the city of Baishan, northeast China's Jilin Province, on July 16-20.

The five-day training event, which was approved by the CWU Party Committee, was held to mark the 97th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), act on the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, implement the guidelines issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYL) concerning the cultivation of young socialist followers, deepen the faith of CYL workers in the Party, and promote the popularity of revolutionary traditions amongst college students.

The CWU delegation was led by Chen Lijun, vice-director of the Student Affairs Office, and Chai Yunlong, a teacher from the Department of Physical Education.

During their stay in Baishan, the participants visited a memorial hall of General Yang Jingyu (1905-1940), who fought against Japanese military forces in the freezing cold and sacrificed himself in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-1945), and other revolutionary sites across the area.

Moreover, the delegation also toured an orphanage, which was built with financial assistance from a local role model of the CPC, and a museum of Manchu people's history as well as their traditional culture.

Prior to the conclusion of their trip, the members said that they had become fully inspired and would integrate what they had learnt there into their work.
