CWU Holds 5th Professional Ability Contest for Counselors

 

In order to promote ideological and political education among college students and improve counselors' political quality and professional level, the Student Affairs Office and Labor Union of China Women's University (CWU) co-organized a competition for its counselors on December 20.

Secretaries of the general Party branches from different schools and departments attended the event and served as judges. Some 21 full-time counselors and part-time peers participated in the competition.

The organizers arranged several different segments for the contest, including written examinations for basic knowledge of policy and regulations, hosting theme class meetings, communicating with students and case analysis. The contents comprehensively inspected the counselors' theoretical skills and ability to handle students' daily problems and emergencies.

During the case analysis, the counselors demonstrated their personal charisma, work philosophy and characteristics in dealing with student affairs within 5 minutes.

The counselors led conversations with students on their concerns, including how to balance personal hobbies and professional learning, how to help impoverished students, how to deal with students' conflicts and stealing in dormitories, as well as, how to solve the contradictions inside the work of student cadres.

The talks showed counselors' abilities in dealing with student affairs with professional skills. During the contest, the counselors fully demonstrated their solid theoretical accomplishments and professional skills. After intense competition, judges selected 3 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 12 third prizes.

The event let the newly recruited counselors to further understand their responsibilities, strengthen mutual communication among counselors, promote and consolidate their basic skills, as well as, promote the professionalization and specialization of the counselors.
