CWU Hosts Seminar for Presidents of Prefecture-level Women's Federations

The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and China Women's University (CWU) co-organized a training course for presidents of prefecture-level women's federations, in order to implement the latest spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), closely study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and deepen reform of women's federations at all levels.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was held on December 4 at CWU. Xu Lihua, director-general of the ACWF's Organization Department, and CWU President Liu Liqun participated in the seminar and made keynote speeches. Lu Ying, president of Dongguan Women's Federation in south China's Guangdong Province, delivered a speech on behalf of all trainees. The ceremony was presided over by CWU Vice-President Wang Jingxia.

On behalf of the co-organizer, Liu warmly welcomed the presidents, thanked Xu Lihua's presence and expressed her gratitude to the ACWF for its guidance and strong support. Liu introduced the university's historical mission, distinct political advantages, discipline superiority and administrative characteristics as the only higher institute which is affiliated with the ACWF.

She emphasized that CWU has taken the training of women cadres and women's federation officials as the essential form and the basic approach for serving women. She pointed out that the university is preparing for establishment of a research center of President Xi's thoughts. Liu hoped the trainees could study hard and understand profoundly the connotation of Xi's thoughts, share the rich experiences of grassroots women's federations and work together to promote CWU's teaching and scientific research.

On behalf of all cadres from the grassroots women's federation, Lu sincerely thanked the ACWF and CWU for their care and concern. She said that all trainees are greatly encouraged and will cherish learning opportunities, observe discipline and listen carefully to lectures given by experts.

Taking the training course as a starting point for reform, Lu said they will adhere to the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, implement the ACWF's arrangements and create a new chapter for the work of women's federations.

Xu Lihua noted that prefecture-level women's federations are the key to carrying forward the spirit of the central government and practicing the ACWF's deployments. It is necessary to hold the training course for the presidents of local women's federations to unify their thinking and promote their work, Xu said.

The ACWF has attached great importance to this training course. Xu Lihua hoped the trainees could put the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress into practice, guide the work of local women's federations and exchange opinions on reform.

Xu also urged women's federations at all levels to upgrade their thoughts and actions by studying the congress spirit; lead and unite women to firmly follow the leadership of the Party; and make achievements in the new era.

Xu put forward four requirements for the trainees, that is, comprehending the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress thoroughly, finding ways to deepen the reform of women's federations, improving cadres' abilities in women's work and strictly observing discipline.

After the opening ceremony, all trainees visited CWU's history museum and campus.
