CWU Holds Summary Meeting for Undergraduate Education Assessment

China Women's University (CWU) held a summary meeting for its work of undergraduate education assessment on November 28.

Li Mingshun, secretary of CWU's Party Committee, and CWU President Liu Liqun participated in the meeting, which was presided over by Vice-President Liu Meng.

CWU Vice-President Sun Jianbei attended the event and made a report on the opinions and suggestions which were put forward by experts on the feedback session held on November 23.

On behalf of the university's leaders, Liu Liqun expressed her heartfelt thanks to all working groups, teaching units, functional departments and all faculty members. She also highly praised teachers and students for their positive attitude, enthusiasm, hardworking and joint efforts in creating a supportive atmosphere.

Liu pointed out that the evaluation work is of great importance in promoting the university's development and its talent cultivation work. The problem-oriented assessment aims at solving concrete problems and helping build a world-class university and first-class disciplines, Liu said.

The evaluation work greatly promoted the exploration of the rules of school running and talent cultivation characteristics, consolidated the central role of talent cultivation, promoted the university's standard management, changed teachers and students' spiritual outlook, enriched campus cultural life and greatly enhanced the cohesion and work effectiveness of the university, Liu said.

Liu also stressed that the assessment is a test of the university's management and cultural building. It helped the school leaders recognize the situation of higher education development, the university's advantages and special values, as well as its shortcomings and deficiencies in the process of development.

The end of the assessment is the beginning of reform and rectification. Liu hoped all the teaching faculty could remain true to the university's original aspiration, adhere to the aim of serving women and serving the people, make painstaking efforts to promote the university's development and talent cultivation work, and strive to build CWU as a first-class women's university.

Li Mingshun spoke positively of Liu's speech and emphasized that the evaluation work boosted CWU teachers and students confidence, pointed the right direction for undergraduate education and made CWU leaders realize the difference between CWU and first-tier universities.

He urged the staff to implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and take this assessment as a new starting point to promote its development. He also asked relevant departments to fully recognize the importance of the evaluation work, conscientiously sum up the opinions and suggestions made by experts, and establish reform mechanisms.

He hoped CWU could create a new situation for scientific, standardized and characteristic development, develop new ideas for its talent cultivation work and make substantial progress in building a world-class women's university.
