CWU Wraps Up 12th Sports Festival

 January 8, 2017

China Women's University (CWU) held a closing ceremony for its 12th Sports Festival in December. Wang Lian, CWU Vice-President and director of the university's Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (CPCS), participated in the event and made an opening speech.

On behalf of the commission, Wang briefly reviewed their main achievements in 2016, laid out their ongoing work and reported a data analysis of students' general physical health and sports events organized in 2016.

Wang fully affirmed CWU's achievements in sports and highlighted three key points, including curriculum reform, group activities and competitions. She said that CWU could only have obtained these achievements and completed CWU's 12th Five-Year Plan with teachers' efforts and support.

Wang also asked CPCS members to clarify their obligations, actively devote themselves to the planning and implementation of sports work and mobilize more students to attend physical activities.

During the ceremony, students performed roller skating, aerobics, fancy rope skipping, Tai Chi, yoga and rhythmic gymnastics, winning warm applause and cheers.

After two months of intense competition, the School of Management won first prize. The Law School took silver, whilst third place was awarded to the Higher Vocational College, followed by the School of Social Work, the School of Child Development and Education and the North Campus. The Financial Department, Computer Science Department and Art School got the title of "Excellent Organizations".

At the end of the event, directors and counselors from different departments and schools presented awards for the winners.

Under the guidance of the school leaders, different functional departments and schools should keep their feet on the ground, seize opportunities and work together to develop students' exercise habits and build CWU into a top-rank women's institute, organizers said.
