Mauritian Women's Delegation Visits CWU

A Mauritian delegation visited China Women's University (CWU) on December 7 at the invitation of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), where they attended a seminar.

Ye Shuiping, director of CWU's International Cooperation Department, Li Ying, dean of CWU's International Education College, directors from other functional departments and trainees from the university's foreign-aid project participated in the meeting, which was presided over by Vice-President Liu Meng.

Liu warmly welcomed the visitors and introduced CWU's development history, managing characteristics, undergraduate curriculum, objectives of talent cultivation and gave a basic introduction to its international exchange program.

CWU and China's Ministry of Commerce co-organized a seminar on "Capacity Building for Female Officials from Mauritius" in 2015. Though far apart, the peoples of China and Mauritius enjoy a deep traditional friendship and have the common aspiration to strengthen their friendly exchanges, Liu said.

After listening to Liu's talk on the university's achievements in promoting women's and children's development and in improving social gender awareness, the secretary of the Mauritian Ministry of Women's Rights, Child Development and Family Welfare said she had great interest in cooperating with CWU.

The secretary sincerely thanked CWU for its warm reception and commented that she was impressed by the university's efforts in improving women's status, as well as promoting gender equality and women's development.

Mauritius is expecting to further cooperate with China on women's issues, including anti-domestic violence, protecting women and children's rights and increasing women's employment opportunities. She hoped that more Mauritian citizens could come to China and study at CWU in the future.

She also exchanged opinions with leaders on CWU's admission system, overseas students program, the curriculum of women studies and its talent cultivation program.

CWU is committed to promoting women's development and gender equality and will keep up its cooperation and exchanges with Mauritius and other countries, organizers said.
