CWU Holds Walking Activity

 November 17, 2016

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Long March (1934-1936), China Women's University (CWU) held a walking activity for teachers on November 1. CWU Vice-President Wang Lian and some 400 teachers participated in the event.

The walk was co-sponsored by the CWU Trade Union and other functional departments and aimed to further implement the spirit of the Red Army's Long March and advocate for an active and healthy lifestyle.

The organizers also hoped to carry forward the core values of socialism and the instructions of the CPC Central Committee on strengthening and improving the work of mass organizations.

At the opening ceremony, Wang called on Party members to stay true to the mission taken up by the CPC 95 years ago and said that educators should enhance their historical responsibility and give full play to the university's innovative spirit.

Zhao Yanping, executive vice-president of the Trade Union announced the activity's rules. Ning Ling, vice-president of the Trade Union, gave a talk on the instructions for the event. When the activity started, all teachers set off under the guidance of their team leader.

During the activity, organizers set up several simulated checkpoints, including Zunyi Meeting, Crossing Chishui River four times, Fighting for the Luding Bridge, Attacking and Occupying Lazikou and Join Forces of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, which were all landmark events in the Long March.

The whole process was full of joy, harmony, and the atmosphere was orderly. The teachers enjoyed the crisp autumn air and successfully completed the walk in the allotted time.

Such activities have become a brand of the Trade Union, and set up a platform of communication for different departments and schools. It also improved teachers' physical exercise consciousness, alleviated their working pressure and further developed the spirit of the Long March.
