CWU Law School Holds Activities to Publicize Anti-Domestic Violence Law

The Law School of China Women's University (CWU) organized students to publicize the country's first anti-domestic violence law on National Day. 

The activity responded to the call of the Communist Youth League Central Committee and the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) to help prevent domestic violence.

China's first law on domestic violence took effect in March this year. Under the new legislation, domestic violence is no longer considered a "family matter," but a legal issue that demands action from the courts and the police.

Students from 10 provinces and municipalities returned to their hometowns and provided access to the legal knowledge to locals. In order to strengthen people's legal consciousness and help them to defend their rights and interests within the law, students explained the content of the law by handing out leaflets, comics and posters.

The activity aimed to disseminate the concept of the law, look at the causes of domestic violence in China, help victims better safeguard their legitimate rights and contribute to the construction of harmonious families in the country.

The activity highlighted the importance of solid theoretical foundation and skills, made students realize the responsibility of social workers and encouraged them to study hard and serve the general public, organizers said.
