Armenian Women's Delegation Visits CWU

Hermine Naghdalyan, deputy speaker of the National Assembly and chairperson of Women's Republican Council of the Republic of Armenia (AWPC), visited China Women's University (CWU) at the invitation of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) on September 21, where she attended a seminar.

Some other five delegates from the AWPC also participated in the meeting which was presided over by CWU vice-president Song Shengju.

Attendees also included Ye Shuiping, director of the CWU's International Cooperation Department; Li Ying, dean of the CWU's International Education College; Wei Kaiqiong, director of the university's Women Studies Faculty; and, Li Lianzhi, dean of the Continuing Education School.

Song warmly welcomed the visitors and introduced CWU's development history, school-running characteristics, undergraduate curriculum, objectives of talent cultivation and its basic situation of international exchange.

After listening to Song's talk on the university's achievements in promoting women's and children's development and in improving social gender awareness, Naghdalyan said she had a great interest in cooperating with CWU.

Naghdalyan commented that she was impressed by the institute's efforts in increasing employment opportunities for female students, improving women's status, as well as promoting gender equality and women's development. Armenia is expecting to further cooperate with China on global matters, and she hoped that more Armenian citizens could come to China and study at CWU in future.

She also exchanged opinions with leaders on CWU's admission system, overseas students program, the curriculum of women studies and its talent cultivation program.

The AWPC, a special Armenian agency in charge of women's affairs, was established in 2001. It is committed to realizing gender equality in the areas of politics, economy and society, said officials.
