 September 12, 2016

China Women's University (CWU) held a mobilization meeting for its third Party congress on September 6. Li Mingshun, Chairperson of the CWU Council, presided over the conference, and made a keynote speech.

CWU president Liu Liqun; vice-presidents Song Sheju and Wang Jingxia, who are also members of the CWU's standing committee; and, vice-presidents Wang Lian and Liu Meng, participated in the event.

Li highlighted the historical and practical significance of the Party congress, and pointed out that the event is a necessity of the change in leadership, as well as a major step in implementing the new round of educational reform and promoting the process of Party building. It meets the leaders' requirement of developing CWU into a top women's university, Li added.

The motivational meeting was held to summarize the achievements and experiences in Party building and the university's development since the last Party congress. After listening to and examining the reports of the Party Committee and the Discipline Inspection Commission (DIC), the participants had to now work out the basic working method and the primary task of the university in the next five years, Li explained.

The congress will select a new Party Committee and DIC, and smoothly realize the changeover of the central leadership group. Li hoped that the new leaders could work together with the faculty and students and strive for the development of CWU.

The upcoming Party congress has great political and realistic significance, said officials. Li asked the Party organizations at all levels to strengthen their inner discipline, translate the report outcome into actions, and make a good preparation within a limited time-frame.

Li explained that each individual group should further define their responsibilities, refine the procedure, and join the efforts to finish the preparation work of the Party congress. The commission should strengthen supervision, raise the self-discipline awareness among institutions, cadres, and other Party members, and resolutely inspect and discipline violations of CPC Party rules and state laws.

Finally, Li said, the reports on the work of Party Committee and DIC are the key components of the Party congress. Attaching great importance to the elections, the attendees shall be able to ensure the popularity, strictness, and advancement of the congress, said Li.
