CWU Leaders Visit Shenzhen Women's Federation

 December 18, 2015

Recently, Song Shengju, vice-president of China Women's University (CWU), accompanied by two directors from the CWU Graduate Office, visited Shenzhen Women's Federation (SWF). SWF President Ma Hong, Vice-president Zang Chen, and directors from the Shenzhen Association for Women's Social Organizations (SAWSO) and SWF Family's and Children's Affairs Office warmly welcomed the CWU delegates, and held a seminar on postgraduates co-cultivation.

Song expressed her heartfelt gratitude to SWF for its strong support and assistance to the university's talent cultivation, especially the training for the master's degree in Social Work. Song introduced the university's mission, history, and advantages in talent cultivation, gender study, and public services. She also reviewed the bilateral cooperation on jointly running the postgraduate training, and hoped to further study Shenzhen's development and market demand in social work professions. She also hoped that the two sides could strengthen their cooperation, and seek for further development in postgraduates' recruitment, training, and employment.

Combining with her own experience in promoting Shenzhen municipal social work development, Ma reviewed SWF's research and practice in social work, introduced SWF's efforts in building service platforms, nurturing and absorbing women's and children's social organizations into social governance, and promoting the construction of social workers specializing in women's issues.

Ma also put forward several opinions on bilateral cooperation. Firstly, she spoke about how Shenzhen municipal social work had developed well; secondly, according to the characteristics of social work, the two sides should further investigate the job demands, and carefully design the training curricula; thirdly, SWF, SAWSO, and more than 100 social organizations for women were willing to receive interns and employ graduates from CWU; fourthly, based on the university's academic advantages and SWF's practical advantages, the two sides could promote the cooperative efforts, and popularize their advanced experience.

The two sides also exchanged opinions and arranged enrollments, curriculum design, professional practice, information construction, and other specific work, and reached broad consensus on female talents cultivation, women's and children's studies, and developing strategic cooperative partnerships.

The seminar opened up a new path for the university's ongoing graduate education, and laid some solid foundations for the innovation of the joint education model, as well as the development of students' ability in serving regional women.
