Five Chinese musicals were named the Best Musical Production at the third Tianqiao Musical Awards ceremony, which was held in Beijing on Dec 27.

The winners included the Chinese version of The Cat Who Wished to Be a Man, based on a children's novel of the same title by the late American writer Lloyd Chudley Alexander, and the Chinese version of The Little Prince, based on the 1943 novella of the same name by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Launched by Tianqiao Performing Arts Center, the biennial ceremony aims at promoting Chinese musical productions.

This year, winners were selected from 12 Chinese musicals, which were staged at Tianqiao Performing Arts Center from October to December and attracted about 40,000 audiences.
