Thirty-five pairs of lovers from northeastern city Harbin Monday competed for the top tens in a candidate couple election for a "Polar Diving Wedding", held on the square of Harbin Polar Land, in northeast Heilongjiang Province.

The contest, launched on June 26, 2007 by Harbin Polar Land, a polar sea recreation world, is the first such contest ever held in China, reports Heilongjiang Morning News.

Harbin Polar Land plans to hold an under-sea ice wedding for the two couples who finally win the contest. The whole wedding process will be shot with underwater cameras, the first such effort in Heilongjiang Province.

The candidates have to go through a series of tests before they win.
