Belgians have the chance to enjoy the intricacies of Chinese ink wash painting and Shanghai and Jiangnan culture at an exhibition of 46 paintings of Shanghai's streets, buildings, waterways, scenery and people's daily life.

Created by nine talented young artists, the Brussels show, the "Poetic Jiangnan: Style of China," runs through June 21.

"The exhibition showcases Shanghai's charm and diverse scenery,"  said Cao Zhongming, China's ambassador to Belgium, at the opening ceremony on June 14.

"I believe people can have a better understanding of Shanghai's culture through these works which will enhance friendship between the two countries."

Jiangnan refers to the area and the culture south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
