Xiamen Holds Symposium on Women, Gender Studies

The third symposium under the National College Women and Gender Studies Research Base was held at Xiamen University in Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province, on November 29, 2012.

Representatives, scholars and experts from ten women and gender studies research bases in colleges across China attended the symposium, including Secretary General of the Chinese Women's Research Society (CWRS) and Director of the Women's Studies Institute of China (WSIC) under the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Tan Lin and Director of the Women and Gender Studies Research Base of Northeast Normal University Zhao Ying.

Tan commended the achievements of the National College Women and Gender Research Studies Base in the past year and suggested a few ways in which it could move forward with its efforts.

The attendees shared their research experiences, discussed the development of women and gender studies in academia and explored ways to promote the basic state policy of gender equality.

There are currently 21 women and gender studies research bases in China.
