Beijing’s COFCO Plaza opened an exhibition of 50 winning entries from the Chinese round of the National Geographic Global Photography Contest on October 16.
Nearly 100,000 photography enthusiasts participated in the event, which received over 250,000 submissions sent in through websites, social media and other channels.
By promoting the event, organizers hoped to arouse more concernfor environmental issues, according to a statement.
An accompanying exhibition, titled “China as Viewed by National Geographic Photographers” was also set up, showing subjects ranging from theancienttearoutes, Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) monuments, pandas and scenic spots in southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
The exhibition runs till November 17.
