China Women's Association for Science and Technology Holds Fourth National Members' Congress in Beijing

The Fourth National Members' Congress of the China Women's Association for Science and Technology (CWAST) was held in Beijing on December 21. Shen Yueyue, President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), attended the conference.

Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Huai Jinpeng, Executive Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), delivered speeches at the event.

Huang pointed out that the New China's brilliant achievements in science and technology in the past 70 years, which are fundamentally due to the strong leadership of the Party, embody the wisdom and painstaking efforts of the workers in the field of science and technology from generation to generation, including the females in that field.

"The CWAST should do the targeted work of guiding, serving and contacting women science and technology workers well. The ACWF will support the association as it has always done, providing services for the growth of women science and technology workers and helping them play a more important role in the scientific and technological circles," she added.

She also called on women science and technology workers to give full play to the building of families and promoting good family education and traditions.

After highly appraising the achievements of the association, Huai hoped that women science and technology workers should make breakthroughs in core technologies and dedicate themselves to the construction of an innovative country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

He urged the association to have accurate orientation and unite its members to make contributions in the new era.

The conference reviewed the association's work in the past six years, and it approved the work report of the Fourth National Members' Congress of the CWAST and the revised draft of the charter of the CWAST. The new council, the board of supervisors and the president of the council were elected at the conference.

More than 150 representatives from the ACWF, the CAST and other relevant departments and academies around the country attended the event.
