Under the guidance of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), women's federations at all levels have undertaken their political responsibilities, launched multiple activities for women's development and united women around the Communist Party of China (CPC), officials said.

Drawing upon the theme of "Five Years On: Following the Party's Lead, Greeting the 19th CPC National Congress", the ACWF has initiated a series of activities to disseminate the CPC's history and spirit of innovation.

The ACWF has led grassroots women's federations to launch education and advocacy campaigns since July 2016. They organized over 64,000 publicity events among the general population, reaching 86 million people.

Among those, over 20 million netizens read reports on the themes of "Good News to President Xi", "Past Five Years' Persistent Endeavors in Advancing Women's Affairs" and "China's Good Netizens Greet the 19th CPC National Congress".

Women's federations also made short videos for the winners of the National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetters awards and screened videos in some 1,537 markets in 151 cities across the country.

Some of the Pacesetters took part in a public speaking tour and motivated grassroots women's federations to participate in events, having a strong effect on audiences.

The Party Leadership Group of the ACWF held training courses and symposiums to closely study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and carry forward the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress (the spirit).

In addition, women's federations at all levels have been organizing female delegates of the 19th CPC National Congress, as well as thousands of women's federation presidents and executive committee members, to publicize the spirit.

They aimed to unite all women to contribute to the Chinese dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation .

Over the past two years, ACWF's careful planning and active deployment, together with various events carried out by women's federations at different levels, have signaled a positive start for the women's poverty alleviation campaign.

Women are playing their "half-of-the-sky" role in the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, officials said.

Grassroots women's federations have launched a subsidized micro-credit scheme, lending over 102.4 billion yuan (U.S.$ 15.8 billion) for 1.25 million women to start their own businesses.

Those federations also established 3,800 service platforms for women's entrepreneurship and innovation across the nation, directly benefiting over 4 million trainees who developed skills in handicrafts weaving, household services and e-commerce industries.

According to these projects, it is essential to increase training sessions for impoverished women, who would be further supported by a series of concrete measures to boost their employment.

The ACWF and local government of east China's Zhejiang Province co-organized the China Women's Entrepreneurship and Innovation Contest in 2017, which attracted nearly 600,000 women participants.

Meanwhile, the women's poverty-alleviation campaign achieved remarkable results in 2017. The ACWF organized a total of 65,000 training sessions in remote and disadvantaged areas and issued 80,000 books with poverty-relief information.

Statistics indicate that 1.13 million women have participated in the training courses and 1.61 million impoverished women have increased their incomes.

In order to maintain stability and develop the rule of law, the ACWF called on nationwide women's federations to carry out education and publicity on laws concerning women, children and families.

The ACWF launched the Looking for the Most Beautiful Family campaign across China in 2015, aiming to identify role model families and genuine family education.

Meanwhile, women's federations at all levels have widely organized winners of the National Civilized Women's Post and the Looking for the Most Beautiful Family awards share their personal stories in relation to the country's development.

The live streaming of the 2017 Looking for the Most Beautiful Family awards garnered over 1 million hits online on the first day.

A series of exhibits on the theme of “family tradition” was well received by Party members and people from the general population.

The activities A Letter from Home and Five Years of My Family have drawn widespread attention from the public. The organizers received over 350,000 letters and 46,000 cases in total. Those activities portrayed the core socialist values and set up good family examples, according to the initiators.

By the end of 2017, women's federations at various levels had hosted 250,000 parent-child activities, involving 72 million adults and children.

The ACWF launched its Chinese-language website Womenvoice.cn in 2017 to better connect and serve women in China online. It was an active adjustment to the fast pace of the Internet era and was aimed at developing new media for women's federations.

To date, over 6,700 related new media platforms and just under 1 million instant messaging groups have been set up through WeChat, a popular messaging app, connecting grassroots women and women's organizations.

The website was designed to be female-oriented with the characteristics of women's federations to lead female citizens across the country, said Song Xiuyan, vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the ACWF.

At the same time, some federations have innovated their ways of working, explored effective WeChat-based working methods and established more platforms for female entrepreneurs and domestic workers, officials said.
