The local government from east China's Shandong Province has recently set up a provincial Gender Equality Assessment Mechanism, to protect the legal rights and interests of women through improved evaluation work related to regulations and policies.
The first plenary session of the provincial Gender Equality Assessment Mechanism was held in the city of Ji'nan on May 11, marking the beginning of the mechanism's operation.
As part of the scheme, evaluation reports will be carried out through an assessment committee and expert groups. These will later send feedback to related departments for the drafting, implementing and auditing of concrete measures.
The gender equality assessment projects for 2016 will focus on: provincial regulations for the collective bargaining of wages and salaries; the prevention of juvenile delinquency; injury insurance; labor dispute mediation and arbitration; poverty alleviation; and, economic development in rural areas.
In addition, organizers aim to facilitate amendments to regulations on enterprise wage payment; the supervision of labor and social security; and, other regulations.
