To mourn for those who lost their lives during the Nanjing Massacre, the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression held an event on National Memorial Day (December 13, 2020). The event included a special exhibition which highlighted the Great Patriotic War through women photojournalists' lenses.

Andrey Denisov, Russian Ambassador to China, Cai Shumin, Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation, and Luo Cunkang, Director of the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, delivered speeches during the opening ceremony.

Guests from China and Russia attended the exhibition's opening ceremony and they presented flowers to pay tribute to the people who were killed during the Nanjing Massacre. More than 200 participants, including officials from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, representatives of Chinese and Russian students and reporters from media outlets attended.

On display were 107 photos taken by seven renowned women photojournalists from the former Soviet Union. The photos showed vividly Soviet women's outstanding contributions during the Great Patriotic War.

During the exhibition, Cai and Denisov exchanged views on Chinese and Russian women's significant roles during the World's Anti-Fascist War and more recently during the fight against COVID-19.
