The All-China Women's Federation and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) cohosted a workshop, in Beijing on December 7, 2018, to review the implementation of China's first National Law Against Domestic Violence, which formally took effect on March 1, 2016. Thirty-five participants from China's Supreme People's Court, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Civil Affairs, National Health Commission, the Office of National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, several provinces and cities, and various international organizations, including UNFPA, attended the workshop.
The participants from Chinese Government institutions shared how their departments implemented the law, and how they implemented the trial regulations of women's federations' response to domestic-violence-related complaints.
Participants from UNFPA and UN Women introduced how to collect and use domestic violence data and the Essential Service Package for Women and Girls Subject to Domestic Violence.
