During the fourth China International Supply Chain Expo, the 2026 BRICS Women's Leadership Forum was held, in Beijing, on June 23. Li Qingshuang, Vice-Chairperson of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and Lin Yi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation, attended the opening ceremony and they delivered speeches.
Lin noted Chinese President Xi Jinping has attached great importance to the development of women's cause. Xi attended the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women (GLMW), held in Beijing, in October 2025, and he delivered a keynote address, marking a new milestone in the history of the international women’s movement.
Lin called on all parties to follow the guiding principles from GLMW, and to continue building broad consensus on women's development among BRICS countries. All parties should use capacity building to help women fully and equally share in the fruits of economic globalization. Further, she added, they should make solidarity and cooperation the cornerstones for opening up new prospects for the high-quality development of greater BRICS cooperation, and join hands in advancing the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
Under the theme, Forging BRICS Strength for a Shared Future, the forum was hosted by CCPIT and the China Chamber of International Commerce. Distinguished women representatives, from politics, business, academia and the cultural circles of "BRICS Plus" countries, participated in exchanges and discussions on various topics, including Building a Resilient Global Supply Chain Network with Inclusive Leadership, Driving a New Engine of BRICS Technology Cooperation with Resonant Innovation, and Painting a New Vision of Harmony in Diversity with Cultural Exchange.
The forum also provided an introduction to the BRICS Women's Development Report (2026). More than 300 people participated, including heads of relevant government departments, business leaders, experts and scholars and diplomatic envoys, from BRICS countries, stationed in China.
