China Association of Women Photographers (CAWP), the People's Government of Ceheng County (in southwest China's Guizhou Province) and Shanghai Airlines International Tourism (Group) Co., Ltd. recently organized a cultural-exchange activity in Ceheng.
Ceheng, a region mostly inhabited by the Bouyei ethnic group, has been dubbed the "hometown of Bouyei ethnic embroidery." Approximately 70 percent of Bouyei women in Ceheng are skilled at weaving, dyeing, embroidering and making clothing.
During the activity, women photographers, with CAWP, photographed the women embroiderers' skills demonstrations and the performances involving the unique Bouyei ethnic arts. Women of China highlights some of the photographs, to share the charm of Bouyei ethnic culture with our readers.
