The women's federation in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region recently issued a scheme on the establishment of more Children's Home activity centers across the region.

In an announcement with the region's Department of Finance, the federation specified that a total of 10,845 Children's Homes would be built among Guangxi's entire 16,185 administrative villages by 2020.

This year's plan features the establishment of 2,237 such activity centers, targeting 900 disadvantageous villages in particular.

Each center will be set up on a budget of 20,000 yuan (U.S.$ 2,900) or more, including funds for the purchase of computers, facilities, and books. Management fees are expected to be between 2,000-4,000 yuan (U.S.$ 290-580) annually, mainly to go towards organizing activities and carrying out repairs.

Those who work as local instructors will receive a monthly financial subsidy of 100 yuan (U.S.$ 14.5). Their job responsibilities will include regularly visiting the centers as well as inquiring about youngsters' comprehensive situation, such as their school, study and family conditions.
