| Ni Ping in "Snow in the Wind"

Renowned Chinese TV host and
actress Ni Ping won the best actress award for her performance in "Snow in the
Wind" at the 30th Montreal Film Festival on Tuesday.
The film by Chinese director Yang Yazhou also pocketed the Special Jury
Award.
Ni Ping said at the awards ceremony she was surprised to win the award
because as a newcomer in the film industry, this was only one of three movies
she has ever starred in. She added there were many outstanding works at the film
festival.
Another film by the duo, "Loach is Fish Too," also received acclaim, but it
was not screened in competition.
The top prize of the festival was shared by the Japanese film "A Long Walk"
and the Mexican film "O Maior Amor De Mundo."
The best director award went to Hans Peter Moland of Norway for the movie
"Comrade Pedersen."
The best artistic contribution award was given to Guy Dufaux for "The Chinese
Botanist's Daughters."
Filip Peeters of Belgium took the best actor award for "Hell In Tangier."
