Left-behind children in Tanpai Community, Shanglin County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, spent time at a two-day summer camp recently.

This summer camp was sponsored by the community. Tanpai community has a large number of left-behind children, whose parents have left their homes to seek better paying jobs in cities. Since their parents work far away from home and are unable to take care of them, the community organized volunteers to prepare a summer camp for them.

In the camp, the children played games, took part in a writing competition, made handicrafts, told stories to each other and participated in other sports and entertainment activities.

One of the highlights of the camp was a chat between children and their parents through a phone provided by the camp organizers. The children told their parents about the progress of their studies and daily lives. The children also said that they missed their parents very much.
