Officials from the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) announced on September 21 that 23 female athletes who claimed gold medals at the 15th Rio Paralympics would be named as National March 8th Red-Banner Award Winner and five teams would be honored with the National March 8th Red-Banner Collective title.

Individuals named in the list include wheelchair archer Zhou Jiamin, 400m T45/46/47 sprinter Li Lu and 400m T45/46/47 sprinter Liu Cuiqing.

The five group award winners have been given to the Chinese winners of the 4x100m T11-13 relay, the 4x100m T35-38 relay and the 4x100m T53-54 relay, as well as the wheelchair fencing epee team and the wheelchair fencing foil team.

ACWF released a statement on the athletes in praise of their "unyielding spirit, outstanding performance and painstaking efforts during the fierce competition."

They fully demonstrated the best national characteristics such as independence, confidence and self-improvement, the statement continued. They have also inspired patriotism and a sense of pride across the country.

In addition, officials called on more women from all segments of society to learn from the sports medalists' outstanding example.
