Organizers from the Women's Council of the China-Russia Friendship, Peace and Development Committee launched various activities last year to enhance women's development.
The council was established in April 2003. The chairperson of the Chinese side of the council is Meng Xiaosi, who is also the then vice-president and member of the Secretariat of All-China Women's Federation (ACWF). Meanwhile, Svetlana Orlova, Governor of Vladimir Region, holds the post of chairman on the Russian side.
In order to promote mutual development, Lu Yamin, Deputy Director-General of ACWF's International Department, headed a delegation to visit Russia from May 26-30, 2016, participating in the 4th Economic Forum of the Vladimir Region.
The 10 members of the delegation accompanying Lu included officials from women's federations and Chinese female entrepreneurs.
During the event, they visited a product exhibition of Vladimir's leading enterprises and had business talks with local businesses.
In addition, Li Xiaoxing, member of the council, went to Russia to attend the Eurasian Women’s Forum on the theme of "Charity without boundaries" from November 16-20.
Also in 2016, the council focused on cultural exchange. Under the invitation of Orlova, the ACWF organized teachers and children from the Youth Art Troupe of China Children's Center to participate in the Russian International Folklore Festival from September 4-9.
During the trip, members of an accompanying delegation held talks with officials from the council's Russian side and led the children’s troupe to visit local art troupes.
Fifteen Chinese girls performed a dance at the festival.
