The traditional costume of the people from Burang County in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has a history going back over 1,000 years.

The old dresses and shoes are decorated with gold, silver, pearls, coral, agates, and many other precious materials. This style of clothing is said to reflect the shape and soul of a peacock.

Now, there are only seven original costumes left, all held by seven families in Koshya Village. Locals take them out and wear them for holidays.
