Ethnic Gelao people from Daxiqiao Town, southwest China's Guizhou Province, recently staged celebrations for the annual Chixin Festival in their rural village.

"Chixin" literally means "eating the new". The festival is considered a joyous occasion for locals to celebrate the harvest.

Over 2,000 people of different ethnic groups from nearby towns took part in the event.

On that day, local Gelao people practiced diverse folk customs such as harvesting, ancestor worship and village cleaning.

Moreover, nine troupes performed songs and dances with unique ethnic characteristics.
