President of Yunnan Women's Federation Undertakes Inspection Tour in Yunnan Province

He Hongmei, president of Yunnan Women's Federation, headed a delegation to investigate local government's work on the promotion of women's business starts-up and employment as well as efforts to protect the legal rights of women and children during an inspection tour in Gejiu County of southwest China's Yunnan Province, March 5.

The inspection delegation visited a local park and listened to a description of its operation and efforts to employ local women.  After that, they visited Gejiu Sunshine Women's Employment Service Center, where they were briefed about initiatives to assist unemployed women in urban areas, rural landless women and other poverty-stricken women both in their professional and domestic affairs.

Meanwhile, members of the delegation toured to the families of two local female cancer patients and donated 10,000 yuan (U.S.$ 1,535) to each of them to help with medical costs.

During the inspection tour, He gave high praises to local women's federations and other governmental bodies for their persistent efforts to help underprivileged women in recent years.

Attendees included Vice-President of Yunnan Women's Federation Li Jiangyi, President of Hehong Women's Federation Chen Wei, Deputy-Secretary of Gejiu County Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Deng Biaolei, and President of Gejiu Women's Federation He Qin.
