A publicity event to promote the campaign of 'Seeking the Most Beautiful Families' was held in Wuma New Village of Dawu Township, Maqin County of Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Golog in northwest China's Qinghai Province on April 17, 2014.

The event, organized by Maqin County Women's Federation, is part of the campaign to seek the 'Most Beautiful Families' nationwide, launched by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) from February to May this year. More than 200 local villagers attended the publicity event. In this context, "Beautiful" doesn't refer to physical attractiveness, but references instead a beauty of the mind and spirit, with the hope that this internal beauty is reflected onto the wider society.

During the publicity event, representative He Gaicuo, who was previously awarded the title of 'Most Beautiful Families', shared her moving story of how she built a good family with the villagers.

Many model families were praised and some 'Postal Parcels for Mothers' with various necessities were sent to impoverished women in Wuma New Village of Dawu Township during the publicity event.

Additionally, volunteers also held publicity activities to help local residents improve their knowledge of protecting the rights and interests of women and children, the importance of unity and common improvements of different ethnic groups, and the safety work on transportation. They also provided free physical examinations to local women.

Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Golog is located at an elevation of 4,500-meters above sea level, in the southeast part of Qinghai Province. More than 90 percent of the local residents in the prefecture are Tibetan.

The campaign to search for the 'Most Beautiful Families' was launched after remarks made by Chinese President Xi Jinping while he met with the newly elected ACWF leadership, with the aim of implementing key points of the 11th National Women's Congress held in late October last year.

During the campaign, the entire population will be encouraged to participate in activities to exchange civilized family traditions, show harmonious aspects of family life and family rituals, to improve ideological and ethical standards as well as scientific and cultural qualities, and help families lead an evidence-based, civilized and healthy life style, so that these civilizational advantages will echo out from families in to wider society.
