Officials of Yulin Women's Federation in northwest China's Shaanxi Province have brought great benefits to local people through establishing an account on WeChat, China's most popular messaging and social media app, since early March 2015.

Cao Yanxia, a rural woman, said in an interview with a China Women's News reporter, "The federation's WeChat usually shows the government's new policies, which is really useful for us. Now I have made many efforts to set up my own business in the local area, increasing my income."

According to officials from the federation, they have actively taken advantage of the Internet and new media to carry out their work, trying to lead women to improve their lives and closely follow the path of the Communist of Party (CPC) in the last year.

Huo Fenglian, president of the federation, said that they have spent tens of thousands upgrading their official website and other areas including adding sections on "Looking for the Most Beautiful Family", "The Ten Most Beautiful Women" and "Demonstration of Traditional Handicrafts." This will greatly advance services and strengthen interactions between the federation and local women, organizers added.

In addition, the messages conveyed online must strictly comply with the requirements of the grassroots women federation's officials so as to ensure the right political direction of the country.

With these online and offline working patterns, local officials found that the network platform has largely improved different departments'influence and organizational effectiveness. Around 100,000 people were involved in the "The Ten Beautiful Women" campaign and many women from various industries learned about the Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech delivered on July 1 after the federation covered this on its WeChat account, officials explained.

Statistics show that there are now more than 50,000 followers on the federation's WeChat's account since its launch in 2015 and the number of views has reached number one across the province, reaching 30th amongst the prefecture-level women's federations in China.

A senior staff member from the Audit Bureau in Yulin revealed, "I start to pay attention to the municipal women's federation's WeChat account under the influence of my wife. As a young father, I usually browse the family educational column and have acquired some scientific educational methods. Meanwhile, I have realized the importance of the role of a father in the course of cultivating a child in the family."

For the future work of the federation, Huo stated that around 500 Internet commentators and publicity teams are being built at present, which would better serve local women online and spread more positive spirits.
