Two good deeds that happened in Nanchang and Ji'an, southeast China's Jiangxi Province, have been wildly spread across the Internet and were also reported by the state broadcaster CCTV (China Central Television) recently.

Saving People from a Fire

On the evening of March 16, a car accident happened on a flyover in Nanchang, which caused a big fire. Faced with the dangerous situation, a young man, Xu Nuo, and a taxi driver, Ying Weiyu, bravely rescued three trapped victims from the car crash, regardless of their own safety.

According to local officials, Xu and Ying have been selected for the list of Chinese Good Fellows and won the title of Jiangxi Good Citizens, and each received 20,000 yuan (U.S.$ 2,897) as a reward for their good deed.

Donating Blood to Save a Pregnant Woman

On March 15, a pregnant woman, Liu Xiangping, from Jinxi's Jintang Village was transferred to the Ji'an branch of Shanghai East Hospital due to the dangerous condition placenta previa.

After checking Liu's condition, the doctors soon decided to carry out a caesarean section. Unfortunately, Liu suffered from a serious bleed during the surgery and required a massive blood transfusion, but her type of blood was in great dearth. So the doctors informed the staff of the hospital to donate blood.

All the staff showed a selfless attitude to donating blood actively under the guidance of the director of the hospital, according to a medical worker at the hospital.

In less than half an hour, the hospital had collected enough blood for the patient and saved the mother and her baby successfully.

After the operation, Liu expressed her gratitude to the hospital and those staff who donated blood for her. "Without the help of all the doctors there would have been no hope me and our happy family," said Liu.
