The People's Court of Duodao District, Jingmen City in central China's Hubei Province, issued a verdict in favor of a local victim of domestic violence on April 8.

The Complainant, Wu, claimed to suffer physical and verbal abuse from her husband. In February she was hospitalized for days after an attack. Following this, she made a lawsuit against her husband demanding legal protection.

Duodao People's Court gathered evidence showing her husband's illegal behaviors, and ruled in Wu's favor.

In addition, staff members from Duodao People's Court spoke with the husband of Wu about the law on domestic violence and persuaded him to maintain family harmony in the future.

The verdict is the first such rule given by local courts in Jingzhou, since China officially implemented the nation's first Anti-Domestic Violence Law this March.
